Durable case but with A LOT of design flaws

This Ulak case is case number 2 of out of 3 that I have purchased for my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. You can see my review for the wooden case that was my first one in a previous post and I will be reviewing my latest one in the future after I’ve had it for a while to test it. It may seem like I’m Goldie Locks when it comes to cell phone cases but I’m hoping my reviews of them will make it so you don’t have to go through what I went through when looking for yours.

There were a couple of things that specifically drew me to this case. It seemed very durable and the ring holder on the back seemed like it would be useful and I was right on both counts but that is where my happiness with this case ends.

This comes in 4 pieces, the plastic case (which are 2 pieces that snap together), the silicone cover and the snap on belt clip. When all is said and done even without the belt clip the case is quite large at 6-1/2” x 3-3/8” x 1/2” which may not seem like a lot but the phone is 5-7/8” x 2-7/8” x 1/8”. The case made it difficult to put the phone in my pocket or even fit in my purse (I carry a very small purse).

I believe my biggest issue with the case has to do with the design and the silicone cover. When you snap the plastic part of the case on the buttons can not be reached so you have to put the silicone cover on which has little tabs that stick in the case to press the buttons, this worked for a month or two and then the tabs got weaker or would move and I could no longer turn my phone on or off without removing the silicone part and using my finger nail (by the way this will not work if you don’t have long nails). The other problem is that this silicone outer piece comes off the ridge around the front all the time. I was constantly having to put it back into position. It is not like other cases where there is a hard plastic piece to keep it in place. Even snapping the belt clip portion on doesn’t help because it covers the front of your phone and on top of that it makes the phone case even larger than it was before.

As far as durability goes I felt like my phone was protected and that the case did well in that area. The ring on the back was helpful and was my favorite feature but I think it made it so that the case wouldn’t wirelessly charge with my charger which if the case was one piece it wouldn’t be a big deal to snap it off and charge the phone but since it is multiple pieces it proved to be a nuisance. I definitely think the cons outweigh the pros when it comes to this case which is exactly why I am currently on case number 3.
