First, I love the pattern on this retro cat pillow cover. I love vintage and vintage cats, I have a knitting business called Knit Kitty and my logo is a vintage cat so when I saw this pillow cover I knew I had to have it.
I love the colors on this pillow cover. I have kids so light colored pillows are out and since this is red as long as it is on the face side (the back side is a cream color) I should be OK and my kids won’t completely ruin it. The eyes on this cat and the body shape are great and as I discovered a the end of my video review if my daughter tilts it just right and puts it under her neck she looks like she has a kitty body. 🙂
Here are the faults with the pillow: I thought the fabric could have been a little softer, it is almost a canvas material. It is not super scratchy or anything but it is certainly not something you want to cuddle with. If you are planning on using this as a purely decorative pillow you will be fine and because it is made out of the material it is it should hold up for a long time. I just fell asleep on it a few minutes ago and it didn’t bother me, I was exhausted but all the same, no issues.
My other complaint is that I could not get my pillow in the case without ripping a few stitches. I did not use an overly large pillow, actually as a designer I would say that it could have been a slightly larger pillow form to fill in this case properly so there really was no reason for the stitches to rip. The zipper is nice and smooth and concealed but really it needs to be at least 1/2 inch longer.
All that being said, I forgive the smaller zipper because I love the pattern so much and I love to see this pillow on my couch. Now if my kids can keep from getting random food on it I will be all set. 🙂
