Techstick 2D Heads Up Display

I wanted to test this heads up display out because I couldn’t imagine how it would work, it seems so futuristic and honestly I had my doubts that it would work at all.

I am happy to say I was wrong, not only does it work it is very accurate and does so much more than tell you your speed (which, just that would have impressed me to be honest).

The day this [amazon text=display&asin=B01A8DDOZQ] arrived my husband went out and installed it and drove around the block to test it and then as luck would have it the next day we had to go on a road trip and we had the perfect opportunity to test it.

Some things to note about the install: This comes with two (I believe glass) rectangles that you install pretty much the same way you would a tempered screen protector for your phone. It is a good thing it comes with two because my husband screwed up the first one. After you install the reflector piece and the anti-skid mat you can plug it in. The cord is plenty long and it is flat which makes it easy to tuck into your dash so it is not in the way.

Once you have all that done you are ready to roll (so to speak). You do have to turn this on and off manually. I included a video review of it in action. This not only includes speed but it includes a ton of other things including but not limited to, tachometer, check engine light, pretty much an “idiot light” that would come on on your dash, it has an indicator to let you know when you need to shift and if your car has the option it will even show your fuel consumption. There are many options for set up so you are going to want to take a moment to read the manual before you start using it to make sure you are using it to its full potential. The [amazon text=display&asin=B01A8DDOZQ] does automatically adjust brightness for daytime and night driving; it can be seen from pretty much anywhere in the car but can not be seen from outside.

My husband’s only complaint is that he wished that the rectangle that the information is projected onto was a little bigger.

My husband is thrilled with this piece of [amazon text=equipment&asin=B01A8DDOZQ] and especially looks forward to when we start towing things, it will be easier to keep track of the gauges. This is ideal for new drivers too, especially if they are learning how to drive stick. This is much safer than the standard car setup because you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to check everything.

This is a very cool device and makes our pickup seem a little more fancy. 🙂
