Green Howlite Cross Necklace and Earrings
Wow this cross necklace is big! It’s so big that when my daughter opened it up and showed it to me the first thing I thought was, “that must weigh a ton”.
Surprisingly this necklace is actually quite light, as in can barely feel it light. I don’t know how they did it but it’s impressive. Actually the earrings are almost as heavy as the necklace and they are also quite large.
All that being said the trade off for the pieces being so light is that they don’t feel like real metal or silver or whatever you are use to your jewelry being made out of. Of course to look at them you would have no idea. The filigree around the stones and on the hardware near the cross is quite intricate. The chain is very chunky which it needs to be to hold its own against this behemoth cross. The chain does have an extender which is a little confusing to me because the cross is fixed on the chain. When I wear it with the extender it feels a little awkward to me but that might be a personal thing. My only other complaint with this necklace is that one of the stones (right hand side of the cross) has a little bit of noticeable glue where it was attached. It’s not a huge deal but I wanted to point it out.
I admittedly did not put on the earrings, I really just wanted this set for the necklace. I have a slight nickel allergy and it is worse with earrings than anywhere else so I didn’t risk trying to wear these, I do hold them up to my ears in my video review so you can get a general idea of their size.
I know the description says these are green stones but to me they look like turquoise. I am not familiar with Green Howlite so I don’t know if that is always the case or not. The stones are full of veins and added details and they are very nicely done.
The size of the cross is 2.75″W x 4.5″H including the loop to hold the chain on. The large circle of the earrings is 1″, the small one is .5″ and they hang 2″L. Like I said, they’re big.
This set is a set that will definitely get noticed when you wear it, it is not a set that you wear when you don’t want to stand out that’s for sure. It’s quite lovely in person and certainly makes a bold statement!
