Delicate Illusions Girls Gymnastics Unitard
My daughter recently got Gymnastic lessons as a Christmas present and it turns out she is a natural, so my husband and I are pretty much going to be broke for the rest of our lives paying for lessons. 🙂
I had tried to go to Target to get her a unitard thinking that would work and we bought the largest size they carry (Large) and she tried it out. It looked like it fit her OK, not the best fit, but all through her practices she kept pulling it down and maneuvering it and I noticed that it seemed to be a major distraction for her. Since it looks like she is going to be in this for the long haul I thought we should look into a better outfit for her.
This is most definitely a better outfit for her. Although she did still pull at the legs a bit I think that is mostly because I should have gone up a size (it’s so hard to judge sizes at her age, they’re all over the place depending on the brand) and I also think she picked up a bad habit from her other outfit. There are little grippers all around the inside bottom of the leg on this unitard that help it to stay put but she said she didn’t even really notice they were there.
The day she wore it was her first day doing beam and vault so there wasn’t a ton of excitement and like I said she is a beginner so it was mostly bridges and handstands and cartwheels, etc but it was a noticeable difference compared to the Target one. The other thing is that she certainly stood out in this pattern. It was really nice to see a bright, contrasting outfit out on the floor. Of course since I’m her mom she always stands out to me but I noticed other people were pointing out her outfit as well. It’s very bright and very cool in person. I got this in pink and black but it is also available in blue, bright green and orange.
I have washed this unitard and had no issues. It seems very well made. My daughter is super excited and I now get to watch her in practice without seeing her constantly pick her outfit out of her tush. 🙂
